PM Modi’s Landmark Visit to the US: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Arrives in America

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has touched down in the United States as part of his highly significant visit. Upon the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Prime Minister Modi is embarking on a four-day trip from June 21 to June 24. Departing this morning (June 20), Modi’s agenda includes a special commemoration of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters, where he will join UN leaders and representatives from across the globe.

During the yoga session, Prime Minister Modi will also pay his respects to the newly installed bust of Mahatma Gandhi, a proud symbol on the North Lawn of the UN headquarters. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, highlighted the uniqueness of this year’s yoga celebration, attributing it to Modi’s visionary leadership that led to the establishment of June 21 as International Yoga Day.

Modi’s itinerary further includes meetings with prominent figures such as Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur behind Tesla and Twitter, astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Nobel laureate economist Paul Romer, among others. Notable personalities on his list also include Nicholas Nassim Taleb, author and investor Ray Dalio, Falu Shah, Jeff Smith, Michael Froman, Daniel Russel, Elbridge Colby, Peter Agre, Stephen Klasko, and Chandrika Tandon.

In anticipation of his highly anticipated visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the importance of peaceful border relations with China. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he emphasized India’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and dignity while calling for China to promote peace and tranquility in the border areas.

Prime Minister Modi’s remarks come in the wake of meetings held between Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu and Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. During these discussions, Singh reiterated India’s stance on engaging with China only when it upholds New Delhi’s sovereignty and integrity.

Speaking about his ongoing visit to America, Prime Minister Modi expressed that the relationship between the two nations has never been stronger and deeper. He also emphasized the unprecedented trust that His Excellency Joe Biden places in New Delhi, while highlighting India’s deserving of a more significant and expanded profile and role on the global stage.
