In Rajasthan, a horrifying incident unfolds as a Dalit woman becomes a victim of a heinous crime, being gang-raped and murdered, with the shocking revelation that two police officers are among those accused

A horrifying incident has shaken Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, as a Dalit woman allegedly fell victim to a brutal gang-rape and murder perpetrated by 3 individuals, two of whom were police officers, according to local authorities. The shocking revelation has sparked outrage, with the BJP calling for the immediate arrest of the accused officers and criticizing the state government for their mere suspension.

Authorities disclosed that the lifeless body of the 20-year-old woman was discovered in the Khajuwala area on Tuesday, leading to a thorough investigation. Inspector General of Police (IG) Om Prakash confirmed that two police constables were promptly suspended in light of their suspected involvement in the crime. The case has been registered, encompassing charges of gang rape and other relevant sections.

The grieving family of the victim has adamantly refused to grant consent for a post-mortem examination, instead demanding swift justice and the apprehension of all accused individuals. In protest against the incident, they staged a ‘dharna’ to voice their anguish.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Tejaswani Gautam conveyed that attempts are being made to persuade the family to reconsider their decision and allow the post-mortem procedure.

According to the victim’s family, the two implicated policemen, identified as Manoj and Bhagirath, allegedly lured the victim to their residence alongside the third accused, where they subjected her to the heinous act before ultimately taking her life. The police, having analyzed call records, ascertained that the victim had some prior acquaintance with the primary suspect.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the primary opposition party in Rajasthan, vehemently criticized the Congress-led government under Ashok Gehlot for its handling of the incident, labeling the involvement of policemen as a disgrace to the administration.

“The incident of rape and murder of a girl in Khajuwala, Bikaner, is very unfortunate, and the involvement of policemen in this incident is a blot on the face of the government,” tweeted Rajendra Rathore, Leader of the Opposition (LoP).

Rathore further expressed discontent with the mere suspension of the constables, stating that it was merely a superficial action that left the victim’s family resentful towards the police administration. He urged the state government to take the strictest possible measures against the guilty officers.

State Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas assured the public that an ongoing investigation into the matter is underway and emphasized that appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible.
